UGOL & MINING 2010: Innovative products in
mining technology point towards a successful future.
Innovative technology in all matters of mining, exploration, discontinuous and continuous mining and processing are at the focus of attention again at the UGOL & MINING fair at the EXPODONBASS exhibition centre in Donetsk, Ukraine, from 7 to 10 September 2010. This event, which is held at two-year intervals, is being conducted by Messe Düsseldorf for the 11th time, together with its Ukrainian partner, the Expodonbass Specialised Exhibition Centre.
UGOL & MINING has become a regular meeting point for the industry, a place where Ukrainian experts meet with national and international companies to learn about innovations
in everyday mining. It is a good place to find out the exact demand, to join others in identifying challenges and to share suitable solutions. In all approx. 482 exhibitors will be
present – about six per cent more than in 2008 (454), presenting their latest developments and technologies in an exhibition space of 11, 500 square metres – an increase of nearly ten
per cent since the last event (10,400 sq.m.).

At the Centre of Reforms
With Donets Basin, Ukraine has one of the largest continuous coal deposits in the world. Countless other raw materials, such as ores, are embedded in the soil of the country, which is located on the eastern boundary of Europe. Its “underground” wealth is one of the most important growth engines of this young national economy; an industry, which itself is continuing to record increasing investments in the still acute global economic crisis and which was already able to generate a slight growth in the first quarter of 2009.
With the change in government in Kiev, the Donets Basin is now clearly at the centre of the reform efforts by the new government. The top people in the cabinet come from the emergent mining region. They have declared the world’s largest coal pan as a country-wide model region. Its land will be the first to undergo the social and, especially, the economic system changes, which the new government has set as the priority on their agenda. Steel producers have also bought numerous mines to secure their own energy supply.
Innovation Needs Investment
For the economic reorganisation of the region and the entire country, modern technology, innovations and knowledge are needed; fundamental building blocks of a forward-looking development, as is in store for the western industrial states. For this reason, the demand for modernising the existing raw material mines and, therefore, the increase in productivity and sustainability, as well as opening up new development regions and the expansion of the manufacturing industry and the necessary modern water-based and rail-based logistical and transportation systems are aimed at these in particular. The funds are ready: A donor conference, to which the IMF, several international development banks and other investors belong, launched a fund of more than $5 billion in April of this year, from which the measures for modernising the mining industry and energy sector, among others, can be financed.
Declared a Top Priority
The 11th UGOL & MINING, which will open its doors between 07 and 10 September 2010, offers huge opportunities for new business potentials to western companies from the mining engineering sector. In the very first place, Ukrainian companies are focussing on their knowledge and asking for local consultation and service as well as machinery and plant equipment.
Be There!
The industry exhibition in 2008 attracted almost 13,500 trade visitors from Ukraine and adjoining countries. More than 450 exhibitors – an increase of 50% in comparison with 2006 – were pleased with the high level of trade competence of the fair’s visitors. They frequently declared their intention to attend this important industry exhibition in 2010 as well in order to cultivate contacts and cooperation with existing and potentially new customers, particularly in this time of crisis.
Global companies for mining technology and primary production will continue to have the best prospects for successful collaboration with the Ukrainian mining sector. Renowned companies from Germany, Great Britain, Poland and the Czech Republic have already announced their participation for the upcoming event. The Association of British Mining Equipment Companies (ABMEC) will be represented again with a shared trade fair stand. Companies from the Saarland will also be exhibiting once more with a shared stand. With the KleingruppePlus support programme, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia will be supporting the participation of small and medium-sized companies for the first time on the initiative of the IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) Düsseldorf. Most of the mining suppliers from Germany, who exhibit at the Ugol & Mining, are members of the Fachverband Bergbaumaschinen (Mining Equipment Association) in the Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagebau e.V. (VDMA - German Engineering Federation).
Reason enough to be at the UGOL & MINING 2010. The venue of the 11th trade fair is the exhibition centre of our long-term partner, Expodonbass, which has been gradually expanded over the last few years. These expanded grounds will provide sufficient space for the increasing space requirements of the trade fair. We will be designing and organising an industry exhibition for you with professional infrastructure – from visitor promotion through to the planning and construction of your exhibition stand. Be there!
